Rosedale

The flag of this South Denver neighborhood reflects its defining features—Harvard Gulch Park and the community that surrounds it. In 1871, Denver pioneer Thomas M. Field acquired 80 acres here, building a grand home that later became the State Home for Dependent Children. From 1902 to 1972, this institution provided care for more than 17,000 children, leaving a lasting mark on the area’s history.

The flag’s design honors this legacy through symbolism: green represents the neighborhood’s expansive park, while the purple rose stands as a symbol of hope and compassion for the children who once called this place home. This flag serves as both a tribute to the neighborhood’s history of care and a reflection of the vibrant green space at its heart.
