Westwood
Westwood, a vibrant community in Denver’s West Side, is defined by its rich cultural heritage, with an over 80% Latino population, primarily composed of first- and second-generation Mexican immigrants. This deep-rooted Mexican heritage is celebrated in the flag’s design, which prominently features a distinctive “W,” symbolizing the pride and unity of the Westwood community.
The flag also incorporates a diagonal element, paying homage to Morrison Road, the neighborhood's principal commercial thoroughfare. This road represents the lifeblood of Westwood, connecting residents, businesses, and community members and serving as the vibrant heart of the neighborhood.
Adding to its cultural vibrancy, Westwood is known for its vibrant public art scene, particularly its murals and public installations. These works of art reflect the community’s Mexican heritage and further reinforce the pride and spirit of Westwood.
Together, these design elements weave a visual narrative of the neighborhood’s cultural tapestry, its pride in identity, and the enduring spirit of Westwood.
