University
The University neighborhood is deeply tied to the history and growth of the University of Denver, which has shaped its identity for over a century. When the university relocated from Downtown Denver in the late 19th century, an 80-acre donation from a local potato farmer provided the land that would become its enduring home.
The flag’s central icon is inspired by the Williams Tower at the Ritchie Center, completed in 1999. Standing as a modern landmark on campus, the tower’s distinctive silhouette represents both the university’s legacy and its continued evolution. The flag’s colors match those of DU, paying tribute to the institution that has defined the neighborhood’s character and fueled its academic and cultural vibrancy.
Beyond the campus, the University neighborhood is a lively mix of students, longtime residents, and local businesses. It has evolved into a hub of education, innovation, and community, with historic homes, tree-lined streets, and easy access to parks and trails. The flag captures this spirit—honoring the neighborhood’s foundations while celebrating the university’s lasting impact on the city.
